Metrum Technologies Achieves ZigBee® Smart Energy Certification for its Utiliwise® Endpoint Communication Module

Waco, Texas (September 7, 2011) – Metrum Technologies, the leading developer of cellular-based AMI and end-point automation technologies for smart grid applications, is pleased to announce that it has received ZigBee® Smart Energy certification for its Utiliwise® Endpoint Communication Module (ECM). The Utiliwise® ECM enables two-way, wireless communications between all of the major smart meter platforms and the utility head-end over secure public wireless networks. This will allow utilities to retrieve any registers, billing determinants, or the contents of any ANSI table supported by the smart meter. With the addition of ZigBee® Smart Energy, the Metrum Utiliwise® ECM is now able to easily provision and communicate with ZigBee® Smart Energy devices in the Home Area Network (HAN), thereby supporting demand-response/load-control applications as well as customer communications on energy use and pricing.
